With trust How can a community become more sustainable? What strategy should it adopt? A new ISO standard will help communities answer these questions and put in place a framework to become more sustainable and resilient. Rapid urbanization, both in the developed and the developing world, brings with it challenges for local, national and regional authorities linked, for example, to the spatial distribution of people and resources, or the use and consumption of land. A new International Standard, ISO 37101, Sustainable development in communities – Management system for sustainable development – Requirements with guidance for use, will support communities to put in place a sustainable development strategy that takes into account their economic, social and environmental context. www.iso.org/iso/home/news_index/news_archive/news.htm?refid=Ref2101 |
